6th Airport Run on 22nd April 2012: Already more than 2,000 registrations

05.04.2012
Half-marathon and 10 kilometre race across BER / Record number of registrations / Registration deadline is 19th April 2012
Run without a hard hat, safety vest and safety shoes past the new terminal and the 72 metre high tower and on the new runway: The 6th Airport Run on 22nd April is the chance for all running enthusiasts from Berlin and Brandenburg to experience BER close up as runners once more shortly before the airport opens.

More than 2,000 runners and power walkers have already registered for this running event. The sportsmen and sportswomen can choose between a 10 kilometre course and the half-marathon distance. This year’s run again includes a bambini route of approximately 800 metres for young runners. The 6th Airport Run is being organised by Berlin Brandenburg Airport in cooperation with Berlin läuft GmbH.

This year’s race starts in front of the big maintenance hangar in the western part of BER. The participants will first of all run on the new four kilometre long runway and then past, among other things, the terminal and the new tower. The course leads the runners entirely through the infrastructure of the new airport for the capital region. At the finish, they will be greeted with a programme of events including music and the awards ceremony for all participants.

The deadline for registrations in writing is 13th April. Online registrations are possible up until 19th April at www.berlin-laeuft.de. The registration office will be signposted on-site on the day of the event, and this is also where the changing tents, showers and the start and finish lines are located.

Berlin Brandenburg Airport recommends travelling to the Airport Run by public transport. Shuttle buses will be bringing passengers free of charge from Schoenefeld S-Bahn train station to the event grounds at regular intervals from 6 am onwards. No parking spaces are available at the event grounds, and only limited parking is available at Schoenefeld Airport.
