Berlin Brandenburg Airport Center receives silver DGNB certificate

08.10.2012
According to an announcement made by project developer Fay Projects and Berlin Brandenburg Airport, the Berlin Brandenburg Airport Center (²BAC) received a silver certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen). The certificate was awarded at the commercial property trade show Expo Real in Munich on Monday by DGNB Board member Roman Petrusek. The decision to award the certificate was primarily based on the building's high energy efficiency, the influence of individual users on the respective office climate, the roof greening and the use of emission-free building materials.

Completed in May this year, the six-storey office block next to the terminal of the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt comprises approx. 19,000 m2 of office space, which is rented to around 50 companies and organisations. A number of airlines, such as Lufthansa, easyJet, British Airways and United Airlines, and airport service providers use the building. These include DB Station & Service AG, the Gegenbauer Group, the restaurateurs Marché International and Casual Food as well as Globe Ground Berlin and Acconia Airport Services. The AOK North-East and Excellent Business Center have also rented space. The airport company has set up its visitors' centre on the ground floor. Besides an exhibition providing information on Berlin Brandenburg Airport, modern conference rooms are also available.
