Traffic report for February 2013: Passenger numbers continue to rise while flight movements fall

In February 2013, Tegel and Schönefeld Airport combined recorded 1,695,217 passengers; 1.3 per cent more than in the same month the previous year. A total of 3,323,028 passengers were handled in the first two months of 2013; 0.8 per cent more than in the same period the previous year. The total number of flight movements in February was down 3.6 per cent on the year at 16,578 take-offs and landings. A total of 33,550 flight movements were recorded in January and February combined; 2.2 per cent less than in the same period the previous year.

Tegel recorded 1,254,056 passengers in February; 5.1 per cent more than in the same month the previous year. A total of 2,449,908 passengers were recorded in January and February (+4.9 per cent).

441,161 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld Airport last month; 8.0 per cent less than in February 2012. In the first two months of the year, a total of 873,120 passengers were recorded in Schönefeld (-9.0 per cent).

At 2,228 tonnes, air freight in February fell by 13.3 per cent. Schönefeld and Tegel Airport combined recorded 4,465 tonnes of air freight in the first two months of the year (-5.3 per cent).
