7th Airport Run 2013: Iain Ridgway wins the half-marathon

The winner of the half-marathon at the 7th Airport Run at Berlin Brandenburg Airport is the Briton Iain Ridgway who completed the course in 1:15:09 hours. The winner of the women’s race over 21.0975 kilometres was Dr. Britta Augsburg from London who ran the course in 1:31:11 hours. In total, 3,682 runners competed in the race on the evening of 27 April 2013 despite the chilly weather and intermittent showers. The course followed the entire length of the south runway at BER, past the German Air Traffic Control tower and the terminal of the new airport. The lights illuminating the south runway and the apron created a very special atmosphere.

The results of the half marathons

Second across the finishing line for the half-marathon in the men’s ranking was Samuel Zimmermann from Berlin, who completed the course in 1:17:57 hours. Third place went to the winner of the previous year’s race, Dirk Kiwus from Berlin (time: 1:18:43 hours). In the women’s ranking Winnie Maria Lechtape from Berlin came second with a time of 1:33:37 hours; third place in the women’s half marathon went to the winner of last year’s race, Katja Czerr from Berlin (1:34:21 hours).

The results of the 10-kilometre race

In the men’s 10-kilometre ranking the winner was Christian Krannich from Berlin who ran the distance in 33:26 minutes, followed in second place by Alessandro Santuz from Berlin, who ran the 10 kilometres in 34:38 minutes. Third place also went to a runner from Berlin, Carsten Foth, who completed the distance in 34:45 minutes. In the women’s ranking the winner of last year’s race, Karsta Parsiegla from Berlin, came first again, crossing the line after 39:39 minutes. The British runner Rachel Lund came in second place with a time of 40:56 minutes, and Katrin Burow from Motzen came in third place with a time of 42:40 minutes.
