Supervisory Board meeting today: Green light for LAN network

The Supervisory Board of Berlin’s airport operating company, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH approved 11 million Euros for the information highway of Berlin’s future airport, the so-called BER-LAN, in its meeting  today.

A stress test carried out in August in a test environment, which had been set up specifically for BER in the US, revealed deficits in the network‘s stability. This was due to the fact that the required capacity of the system has increased since the beginning of the construction works. According to the latest plans, the new airport’s IT network is to host around 360 individual IT systems of airlines, service providers, authorities and other airport users, avoiding disruption. The structural alteration works will begin shortly.
