Qatar Airways expands Berlin capacities

The five-star airline will be operating an Airbus A330-200 on all connections to and from Berlin starting December 1 / Enhanced passenger comfort in all classes
Qatar Airways is responding to the increased demand on the Berlin – Doha route and is replacing the Airbus A320 with the wide-body Airbus A330-200 on all of its seven weekly flights starting from 1 December 2013. In a two-class configuration, the A330 provides up to 248 seats in economy and up to 24 seats in business. The capacities are therefore being almost doubled. On board, passengers in all classes have a personal screen at their disposal with on-demand access to an interactive entertainment system offering more than 1000 different entertainment options.

“The connection to Berlin was introduced eight years ago. At the time, four flights a week connected the German capital to the hub in Doha. Due to the rise in demand in Germany, Qatar Airways rapidly increased the number of connections and has been flying to Berlin daily for almost six years now,” explains Paul Johannes, Qatar Airways Vice President for North, South and Western Europe. “Now, after 15 years of successful business operations in Germany, we are delighted to be deploying an A330-200 with greater capacity on the Berlin – Doha route. Our passengers will then enjoy improved service and comfort with a more generous seat pitch,” he adds.

“We are delighted with Qatar Airways’ decision to serve the Berlin – Doha route with an A330 from December 1. Not only is Qatar Airways thus satisfying the continuously growing market of the capital region – it also shows the airline’s confidence in Berlin as a business location,” says Hartmut Mehdorn, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH.
