Completely unfounded - A statement concerning the article in Tagesspiegel entitled "BER Lawyers: Air Berlin can go” dated 10 November 2013

11.11.2013
Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH vigorously disputes the article published in the Tagesspiegel newspaper on 10 November 2013 which alleges that FBB has suggested that airberlin should relocate away from Berlin. “The interpretation presented by the Tagesspiegel that the airport operator has recommended that airberlin should move away from Germany’s capital city is absurd and completely unfounded,” stated the airport’s CEO Hartmut Mehdorn. “It is common knowledge that there is an ongoing legal dispute between airberlin and FBB concerning the postponement of the 2012 opening date for BER Airport and highly complex legal facts are being negotiated in this case. But if one thing is clear then it is the fact that airberlin is our largest customer and for many years has contributed to Berlin’s growth with rising passenger numbers. We want that to remain unchanged. We want airberlin to continue growing here with us over the coming years.”
