Airport Night Run 2014: 3,856 runners took part12.04.2014
From the start to the finishing line in 75:22 minutes: this is the time that the winner, Daniel Naumann, took to complete the half-marathon. A total of 3,856 runners competed in the Airport Night Run. In beautiful weather, the runners successfully completed the race around the Berlin Brandenburg Airport site. At the evening event, 1,277 of the contestants ran the half-marathon (21.0975 kilometres) while 2,579 opted for the 10-kilometre race. The course took the runners over the illuminated south runway, past the German Air Traffic Control tower, the terminal and the south pier of BER. This is the eighth time that the Airport Run has been held. As in the previous year, this year’s event was held as a Night Run and the starting shot was fired at 7 p.m. The Airport Night Run was organised by Berlin Läuft GmbH on the grounds of Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
Winner of the half-marathon
The contestants ran truly impressive times: the winner of the half-marathon was Daniel Naumann from Henningsdorf who completed the course in 1:15:22 hours. Second place in this distance went to Dirk Kiwus from Berlin (1:15:29 hours). In third place was Marco Molina from Berlin (1:19:45 hours). In the women’s ranking Julia Kind from Berlin won with a time of 1:26:29 hours. Annette Müller from Berlin crossed the finishing line second with a time of 1:30:07 hours. Alexandra Gabrys from Berlin (1:30:30 hours) followed in third place.
Winner of the 10-km race
The winner of the 10-kilometre race was Bernd Romeikat from Berlin who finished the course in 33:43 minutes. Second was Cornelius Theus from Berlin who ran the distance in 34:24 minutes. Benjamin Schalanda from Berlin came third with a time of 35:34 minutes. In the women’s ranking the winner of the previous two races, Karsta Parsiegla from Teltow, came first with a time of 40:39 minutes, ahead of Isabelle Stawczynski from Berlin in second place (42:03 minutes) and Laura Gebauer from Berlin in third place (42:48 minutes).
School from the region with the most contestants
This year, several schools from the vicinity of the airport competed in the Airport Night Run for the first time. The Villa Elisabeth Gymnasium in Wildau was the school with the most contestants and received a cheque for €150 as a prize.
