Germanwings expands route network from Berlin
Romeo and Juliette’s native city has just come a little bit closer: starting today, Germanwings will be flying three times a week to Verona. The flights depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Additionally, Germanwings is offering two other new destinations from Berlin. Today, the airline also launches a service to Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina. And since April 12 the airline has been flying to Ancona on the Italian Adriatic coast.
“With more than eleven million passengers in ten years, 35 destinations in summer 2014 and a constantly expanding route network, Germanwings has firmly established itself as a fixture in Berlin”, says Hartmut Mehdorn, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. “I congratulate the airline on this fabulous success and wish them great load factors at all times.”
Verona, the city in Northern Italy that achieved poetic fame as the setting for the play “Romeo and Juliette” by William Shakespeare, enchants visitors with its unique medieval ambiance. The traditional Verona can be explored in a leisurely stroll through the old city centre down to the arena, which was built in the year 30 AD. Another of the city’s unmissable attractions is the Giardino Giusti, one of the most beautiful late renaissance gardens in Italy, which also offers a magnificent view across the city.
