Significant growth at Schönefeld: Passenger numbers up by over 12 per cent13.05.2014
In April, 2,338,049 passengers took off and landed at Berlin’s Schönefeld and Tegel airports. This represents growth of 7.2 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year. In April, 629,441 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld (+12.7 per cent), with 1,708,608 being registered at Tegel (+5.3 per cent). This meant the percentage growth in passenger numbers was more than twice as high at Schönefeld as it was at Tegel in the fourth month of the year.
The number of flight movements climbed to a total of 20,757 take-offs and landings in April – a 3.0 per cent year-on-year increase. At Schönefeld, the number of flight movements increased to 5,756 compared to the previous year. This is equivalent to growth of 4.7 per cent. Tegel charted a 2.3 per cent increase on its 2013 figure. All in all, 15,001 flight movements were recorded at Tegel in April.
A total of 8,066,987 passengers used Schönefeld and Tegel airports from January to April. The total was therefore 6.3 per cent up on the same period of the previous year.
In the first four months of the year, 2,104,257 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld, which is 6.6 per cent more than in the same period of 2013. Tegel Airport processed 5,962,730 passengers during the same period – 6.2 per cent more than in the opening four months of the previous year.
The total number of flight movements rose in the first four months of 2014 to a total of 76,349 take-offs and landings or 4.9 per cent more than one year earlier. At Schönefeld, the number of flight movements increased to 20,855 compared to the previous year. This is equivalent to growth of 3.9 per cent. Meanwhile, Tegel experienced year-on-year growth of 5.3 per cent. A total of 55,494 flight movements were recorded at Tegel between January and April.
Airfreight amounted to 3,278 tonnes at Schönefeld and Tegel in April – up 29.1 per cent on the same period of 2013.
