Siemens manager Jörg Marks to become new Chief Operating Officer at the BER18.06.2014
Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH has a new Chief Operating Officer: as of 1 August 2014, Jörg Marks will be strengthening the management team led by airport CEO Hartmut Mehdorn as technical and construction director of the Berlin airports and general technical project manager for BER. Initially, the primary task of the 46-year-old engineer and skilled communication technician will be the speedy and safe completion and opening of Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
On the appointment of the new COO, airport CEO Hartmut Mehdorn said: “Mr Marks is my absolute preferred candidate. I am delighted he has accepted my offer. He will benefit the airport company with his engineering expertise, solution-focused management style and years of knowledge of the technical challenges at BER Airport.”
Before his appointment at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, Jörg Marks worked for the Siemens Group for almost 25 years. Most recently, he was Manager for the Eastern Region of the Building Technologies Division from 2005 and furthermore the Manager for the Business Line BOS Control Centres in Germany from 2012. Managing over 600 employees at six locations, he was responsible for safety engineering, building automation, high-voltage current and IT projects with a business volume of approximately 200 million euros per annum. Jörg Marks is already well-acquainted with Berlin Brandenburg Airport: from 2008, he was responsible for the Siemens con-tract for building automation at the new capital airport.
