Fly into the sun with Germania:
Four new holiday destinations from Berlin Schönefeld

05.11.2014

Fly back into summer with Germania: the new winter flight schedule of Berlin airline Germania features a total of four new destinations in the sun. As of today, Germania is flying every Wednesday to the Egyptian beach paradise Hurghada. At precisely 8.05 a.m., flight ST4192 took off for Egypt. Since 2 November 2014, the Schönefeld-based airline has been flying every Sunday to Tenerife South Airport. As of 13 December 2014, Gran Canaria will also feature in the airline’s winter flight schedule. Flights will be offered every Saturday. On 16 December 2014, the airline will start operating flights every Tuesday between Berlin Schönefeld and Lanzarote. Beirut and Antalya also continue to be attractive destinations in the airline’s flight schedule from Schönefeld.

Karsten Balke, CEO of Germania: ‘We are delighted to be able to expand our flight offerings from our home base and our route network from Berlin Schönefeld by four in-demand holiday destinations. Hurghada on the Red Sea is highly popular, especially amongst water sports enthusiasts from Berlin and Brandenburg. The Canary Islands are also very popular this winter. In launching these new connections, we are responding to the great demand for direct flights to these sought-after holiday destinations.”

“Germania has been a reliable partner of the airport company for years and is an integral part of Schönefeld”, says Hartmut Mehdorn, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. “Which is why we are all the more pleased that Germania has added four new connections to its flight schedule. We wish the airline continued success and constantly high capacity utilisation.”

Tenerife

The volcanic island of Tenerife is the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands and is characterised by a pleasant climate and mild temperatures all year round. Beach lovers, water sports enthusiasts, nature lovers and walkers will find everything they need in the island’s highly contrasting landscapes. The giant volcano in the centre of Tenerife with its bizarre rock formations, crater landscapes, original villages and seemingly endless beaches attract millions of tourists to the island every year.

Hurghada

Located on the Red Sea coast, Hurghada is the ideal holiday destination for beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts. Besides guaranteed sun all year round, the Egyptian port city is particularly popular for its white sandy beaches and the fascinating underworld of the Red Sea.

Gran Canaria

The third largest of the Canary Islands captivates visitors with its year-round warm climate, diversity and contrasts. Also known as the ‘miniature continent’, the island has a wide variety of landscapes. Gran Canaria’s most popular sightseeing attractions include the Dunes of Maspalomas, the fishing village Puerto de Mogán, which is also called the Venice of the South, as well as the Cenobio de Valerón, the 290 caves hewn in tuff by the natives.

Lanzarote

Lanzarote, the easternmost of the Canary Islands, is both unique and enchanting. Moonscapes, the Timanfaya National Park, lava caves, beaches and a mild, rather dry climate invite visitors to forget winter for a few days.

Germania

Germania is one of Germany’s longest established airlines: since 1979, every year millions of passengers use the carrier’s distinctive green-and-white aircraft to fly on holiday, visit friends and family or travel to Europe’s major cities. The airline’s route network currently comprises more than 140 international destinations in Europe, North Africa and West Asia. Germania operates a total of 24 aircraft and employs more than 850 people. More information can be found at: www.flygermania.de
