Double-figure passenger growth: +13 per cent at Schönefeld Airport

In February, 1,900,509 passengers took off and landed at Berlin’s Schönefeld and Tegel airports. This represents a growth of 3.8 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. During the second month of the year, 537,364 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld (+13.0 per cent) and 1,363,145 passengers at Tegel (+0.6 per cent).

The number of flight movements rose in February to a total of 17,855 take-offs and landings, which represents an increase of 0.8 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. At Schönefeld, the number of flight movements increased to 5,095. This corresponds to an increase of 5.7 per cent compared to the previous year. At Tegel there was a decrease of 1.1 per cent compared to the previous year. During the second month of the year, a total of 12,760 flight movements were recorded at Tegel.

A total of 3,704,915 passengers used Schönefeld and Tegel airports during the first two months of the year, which represents an increase of 3.3 per cent compared to the same period the previous year.

In January and February, 2,677,789 passengers were recorded at Tegel, which is 0.5 per cent more than in the same period the previous year. Schönefeld Airport at the same time handled 1,027,126 passengers, which is 11.4 per cent more than in the comparison period in 2014.

The number of flight movements all together rose during the first two months of the year to a total of 36,044 take-offs and landings, which represents an increase of 2.4 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. At Schönefeld, the number of flight movements increased to 10,064. This corresponds to an increase of 5.3 per cent compared to the previous year. At Tegel there was an increase of 1.3 per cent compared to the previous year. During the first two months of the year, a total of 25,980 flight movements were recorded at Tegel.

Air freight at Schönefeld and Tegel airports in February amounted to 3,447 tonnes, which represents an increase of 10.1 per cent compared to the same period the previous year.
