Passenger information: Emergency drill at Tegel Airport on Thursday, 9 July 2015

In line with the regulations of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), the airport operating company Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH is obliged to carry out comprehensive emergency drills at least once every two years.
On Thursday, 09.07.2015 (from around 9.30 pm to 11.00 pm) the airport operating company will simulate an emergency response at Berlin-Tegel Airport. The assumed scenario is that an airside vehicle catches fire in the airside security area of Terminal C3. As part of the exercise the airline airberlin will provide one of its aircraft for rehearsal of evacuation via emergency escape chutes. In addition to staff of the airport operating company and of airberlin, other participating organizations are the Berlin Fire Brigade, the Berlin Police Department, the German Federal Police, the German Air Traffic Control Service and ground traffic service providers.
The emergency drill is intended, among other things, to check internal procedures and is not open to the press. Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, together with the involved parties, will inform the public of the results following evaluation of the drill.
