Schedule of Charges for airlines: Inappropriate BDF criticism16.07.2015
Today's allegations by the Bundesverband der Deutschen Fluggesellschaften (German Airline Association, BDF) against Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) are inappropriate. Specifically, it is claimed that FBB is making "juicy gains" with the two airports at Schönefeld and Tegel, and achieving "monopoly returns" through its supposed "market-dominating position".
FBB clarifies that the level of charges striven towards in the consultations is based on the actual costs of operating the two locations, Schönefeld and Tegel, which represent average values for all German airports.
Karsten Mühlenfeld, CEO Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: "Apart from the regular costs required for operating the two locations, one-off items of expenditure are also incurred such as for refurbishing the northern runway at Schönefeld or upgrading measures at Tegel. Along with the airlines, our joint interest is in safeguarding operational safety at Schönefeld and Tegel. And that does not come free."
