Passenger growth: Double-figure growth at Schönefeld

In September, 2,804,279 passengers took off and landed at Berlin’s Schönefeld and Tegel airports. This represents a growth of 4.4 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. In September, 783,430 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld (+13.8 per cent) and 2,020,849 passengers at Tegel (+1.2 per cent).

The number of flight movements in September amounted to a total of 23,596 take-offs and landings, which represents an increase of 2.9 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. At Schönefeld, the number of flight movements amounted to 6,728. This corresponds to an increase of 6.9 per cent compared to the previous year. At Tegel, the number of flight movements increased slightly (+1.4 per cent) compared to the previous year. A total of 16,868 flight movements were recorded at Tegel in September.

A total of 21,927,104 passengers used Schönefeld and Tegel airports from January to September, which represents an increase of 4.2 per cent compared to the same period the previous year.

At Tegel, 15,891,301 passengers were recorded from January to September, which is 1.8 per cent more than in the same period the previous year. Schönefeld Airport at the same time handled 6,035,803 passengers, which is 11.2 per cent more than in the comparison period in 2014.

The number of flight movements all together from January to September rose to a total of 193,382 take-offs and landings, which represents an increase of 1.7 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. At Schönefeld, the number of flight movements increased to 54,565. This corresponds to an increase of 3.4 per cent compared to the previous year. At Tegel there was an increase of 1.0 per cent compared to the previous year. A total of 138,817 flight movements were recorded at Tegel from January to September.

Air freight at Schönefeld and Tegel airports in September amounted to 3,734 tonnes, which represents a decrease of 3.0 per cent compared to the same period the previous year.
