Passenger notice: Increased volume of passengers at Schönefeld Airport27.10.2015
Schönefeld is growing. A total of 6,035,803 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld Airport from January to September 2015, which is 11.2 per cent more than in the same period the previous year. With the commencement of the winter flight schedule last weekend and the opening of the Ryanair base at Schönefeld, an increase in the number of passengers is expected in the coming weeks. We would therefore like to provide passengers and visitors with some useful information to help make their arrival and time spent at Schönefeld Airport as pleasant as possible:
- We kindly ask that passengers check in online before setting off on their journey. This will help reduce waiting times at the airport check-in desks. We advise passengers to find out from their airline in advance about the available online check-in options. You will find a list of all the airlines at Schönefeld Airport at www.berlin-airport.de
- Since longer waiting times are also possible at the security checkpoints due to the higher volume of passengers, we kindly ask that passengers make their way directly to the security checkpoints immediately after checking in, if possible.
- The “Berlin Airport” app includes a new service. App users at Schönefeld will now receive push notifications with information that helps them find their bearings and assists them while at the airport. What is more, users get the information right where it will be of use to them. After landing, for instance, passengers will receive information about public transport; and departing passengers will get information about the fastest route to their gate. This is made possible with the help of small Bluetooth transmitters, known as beacons. The “Berlin Airport” app can be downloaded free of charge for iOS and Android smartphones. In order to use the service, users need to activate Bluetooth.
