Strong growth at SXF continues

The growth in passengers at Berlin’s airports, particularly at Schönefeld, has continued at the beginning of the year too. In January 2016, 2,034,500 passengers took off and landed at Schönefeld and Tegel airports. This represents a growth of 12.8 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. During the first month of the year, 705,177 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld (+44.0 per cent) and 1,329,323 passengers at Tegel (+1.1 per cent).

The number of flight movements rose in January to a total of 19,870 take-offs and landings, which represents an increase of 9.2 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. At Schönefeld, the number of flight movements increased to 6,567 compared to the previous year. This corresponds to an increase of 32.2 per cent. At Tegel there was a slight increase of 0.6 per cent compared to the previous year. A total of 13,303 flight movements were recorded during the first month of the year at Tegel.

Air freight at Schönefeld and Tegel airports in January 2016 amounted to 3,386 tonnes. Freight volume was thus at the level recorded for the same period the previous year.
