Airport Night Run 2016: New anniversary route

The Airport Night Run will be taking place this Saturday for the tenth time. On 9 April, thousands of runners will again be setting off from the starting line at the BER. For this 10th anniversary run, the start and finish area has been relocated to beneath the terminal roof and the route has been modified. The course this year will therefore take the runners along the air side of the terminal building and beneath the passenger boarding bridges. And the highlight of the run – a section of the route on the illuminated runway and apron – will of course again be included.

The participants can choose between the half-marathon, the 10-kilometre route, and the 10-mile relay, in which teams run 4x4 kilometres. Last-minute registrations are possible right up to the day of the event.

Karsten Mühlenfeld, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “So far more than 5,900 participants have registered for the event. We are delighted to be able to offer so many athletes the opportunity to take part in a unique run.”

Warm-up and starting shot

The half-marathon begins at 7:00 p.m. and will cover a distance of 21.0975 kilometres. The 10-kilometre run and the 4x4 relay begin at 7:30 p.m. Around 25 minutes before the start of each event, participants can prepare at the official warm-up. Awards will be given to the best runners in the three events, and there will also be awards for the company with the best time and the one with the most participants.

Getting there and service at the venue

The event venue is at Berlin Brandenburg Airport in the arrivals and drop-off area of the terminal. Free parking is available on site. We do, however, recommend coming by public transport. A shuttle service will be set up at Bahnhof Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld train station.

Refreshments will be provided at the venue for visitors, participants, and accompanying persons. In the start area, runners have the opportunity to use the toilet, changing, shower and cloakroom facilities. Visitors and accompanying persons can spur on the runners in the start and finish area. It is not possible to accompany runners on the route.

Registering for the run

The Airport Night Run is organised by Golazo Sports GmbH (formerly Berlin läuft). Around 6,500 runners in total are expected. Online registrations are still being accepted up to Wednesday 6 April. The fees are 40 euros for the half-marathon, 25 euros for the 10-kilometre distance, and 44 euros for the relay. After that, it is only possible to register at the starting documents collection point and, on the day of the event, at the late registration counter up to one hour before the start of the race (payment only in cash).

All runners must use a real-time ChampionChip during the race. Participants who do not yet own a real-time ChampionChip for electronic time recording can hire one for 6 euros.

Further information about the run and registration is available online at and by telephone on +49 (30) 2431 9977.

Filming and photography

Journalists wishing to record video and take photographs along the route have the opportunity to do so after registering in advance. Accompaniment by a member of the Communications & Press Relations Office is necessary. Please register for this at the Communications & Press Relations Office of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH by 2:00 p.m. on 6 April 2016 via email at
