Construction work at Schönefeld Airport: Upgrading of federal highway B96a, car park P4 closed15.04.2016
Until 20 May 2016, the provincial road agency of the state of Brandenburg will be upgrading the B96a federal highway in the vicinity of the entry and exit point to Schönefeld Airport. Traffic routing has been changed and diversions set up during the roadworks. Travellers are requested to plan more time for travelling to and from the airport by car.
Due to refurbishment work, car park P4 at Schönefeld Airport is currently closed. Therefore, the airport company recommends that long-term parkers use car park P6 in front of Terminal D. Car park P2 in front of Terminal A is available for short-term parkers. Travellers approaching car park P6 from the A113 should continue driving as far as the Schönefeld-Nord motorway exit and then follow the diversion via Hans-Grade-Allee, Waßmannsdorfer Chaussee and Mittelstraße in the direction of Terminal D/Fracht (Cargo). Visitors who wish to use short-term car park P2 should follow the diversion signs towards Terminals A-C.
Detailed information on navigation during roadworks is available for travellers on www.berlin-airport.de in the section on Schönefeld Airport / To and from the airport / Car. Queries can be directed to the passenger info hotline on 030 6091 1150 or on Twitter (@berlinairport) which is available around the clock.
Airport company commences extension of Terminal B
Monday, 18 April 2016, will see the airport company commence extension of Terminal B in the outdoor area. These measures will not affect passenger handling inside the terminal. The bicycle parking bay will be relocated to the bus parking area.
Background to Schönefeld extension
Additional capacity is to be generated at Schönefeld Airport in 2016. Terminal B is to be extended by approx. 600 square metres on the land side which entails extending the approach side by the current outdoor roof area. When conversion is complete, passengers can look forward to additional check-in machines and an improved queueing area for security controls. Within this context, the baggage area in Terminal B is also to be enlarged by 40 per cent. Car park P4 is to be fully upgraded. In the form of Terminal D2, an entirely new arrival terminal is being built west of Terminal D. Spanning almost 3,800 square metres, this building will feature three baggage carousels. And the coach parking area is also being relocated to a new area in P6.
