Annual Accounts 2015: More Passengers Lead to Significant Increase in Earnings

19.05.2016

Berlin’s Schönefeld and Tegel Airports posted a new passenger record in 2015. The numbers are reflected in the 13% increase in revenues of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. Operating profit improved substantially as well and came to €85 million.

Dr Karsten Mühlenfeld, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “When we look back at 2015, we see a successful year of accomplishment. We posted significant growth in our core business. The rise in the number of passengers also improved our income situation, especially in the sectors aviation, restaurant business and parking. The good operating profit is evidence that we are a successful airport operator despite the challenges facing us with the completion of BER.”

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH posted €326.2 million in sales revenues in 2015 — 13% more than in 2014. The sales revenues in the division Aviation were especially heartening; the figure of €234.4 million (+18%) is a new record value. While the revenues of FBB Group rose substantially, the operating expenses showed only a moderate increase (+6%). As a consequence, the operating profit (EBITDA) improved by 52% to €85.2 million.

Heike Fölster, CFO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “The good economic position of Schönefeld and Tegel Airports will enable us to bear a part of the expenditures for BER ourselves in future, just as in the past. Our business outlook is highly positive because of the good market environment.”

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH expects 31.8 million passengers (+7%) and an increase in revenues to €354 million (+9%) for the current fiscal year.
