Land Transfer Contract: Parkland to be transferred to municipality14.11.2016
Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH has sold the land for the three parks “In den Gehren”, “Vogelwäldchen” and “Dörferblick” to the municipality of Schönefeld for the symbolic price of one euro. Dr. Karsten Mühlenfeld, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, and Schönefeld’s Mayor Dr. Udo Haase signed the land transfer contract today, which safeguards the long-term existence of the parks. The airport will be responsible for the upkeep of the parks for a period of 25 years. This also includes management of the wild horses living at “In den Gehren”. The three parks form part of the green belt around BER airport, which includes an entire range of projects intended to ecologically offset unavoidable changes to the environment caused by development of the airport. Work on offsetting and compensation measures ended in May 2015.
