Connecting flights – What you need to know
If you need to transfer at Schönefeld Airport, you should observe some key items of information.
Schönefeld Airport is open 24 hours a day. If you have to wait for a connecting flight the next day, you need not leave the airport and are free to move around the terminal all day and night.
If you need to transfer at Schönefeld Airport, you should plan sufficient time. Please plan at least 60 minutes to enable you to easily transfer from one flight to another. More time may be required however if you are obliged to pass through security again or have longer distances to cover at the airport. Please check the airport site plan for the location of your arrival gate and the distance to the departure gate. The site plan including an overview of all gates is available here:
Permissible Items and Liquids in Hand Luggage
If while transferring you leave the security area at one point and enter again through a different security point (e.g. when departing from a different terminal), the guidelines governing permissible items and liquids in hand luggage must be observed. This also applies for products purchased in the duty-free shop at the place of departure unless they are still in a sealed security bag along with the purchase receipt bearing that day's date. Particular attention should be given to the maximum permissible volumes of liquids. Detailed information on hand luggage guidelines is available here:
Please observe the restrictions governing the import of certain products purchased abroad and/or in the duty-free shop at the place of departure. Detailed information on permissible exemptions is available here:
