Air Traffic Management Assistant

This training programme provides an insight into all aspects of airport operations. Training will take place with various partners at numerous stations around Berlin Brandenburg Airport. At the same time, our administrative areas will teach you all you need to know about business management procedures. Typical employment opportunities arising on completion of the training include jobs in the areas of transport and business/commerce.



  • General school-leaving certificate qualifying for university admission or advanced technical college certificate (in business management)
  • Very good to good grades in maths, German and English (all subjects up to A level)

Duration of training

Three years, but may be reduced to 2½ years for outstanding performance in theoretical and practical training.

Course of training

During training you will gain an insight into the many processes at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. You will mainly be involved in the following areas:

  • Aviation Management
  • Purchasing
  • HR & Organisation
  • Marketing & Public Relations
  • Accounting, Controlling & Financing

We also organise practical training with our airport partners at the following stations:

  • Passenger Handling
  • Aircraft Handling
  • Bookings & Sales
  • Cargo Handling

Theoretical vocational training takes place at the OSZ Dahme-Spreewald (sixth form college) in Königs Wusterhausen. Over the course of 13 weeks' block instruction per training year, you will acquire fundamental theoretical knowledge.
