Normal service gradually resumes at Schoenefeld

Since 3.22pm aircraft have been able to depart and land at Schoenefeld Airport again. Service is gradually returning to normal. In total, 13 departures and arrivals were cancelled today. One departure has been postponed until tomorrow. Around 20 scheduled flights to Schoenefeld were rerouted to other airports, with 19 flying to Tegel and one to Leipzig. The airport operator expects that normal service will gradually resume at Schoenefeld and that the delays should be cleared by this evening.

About the incident: At 9.10am this morning an Embraer 500 Phenom 100 jet hit the shoulder of the runway after touching down; the aircraft is still blocking the runway. The aircraft had started in Kortrijk, Belgium. There were three persons on board the aircraft (two crew members and a passenger). The three persons were able to exit the aircraft uninjured.
