Zülowpfleger 2013
For the ninth year in succession, 17 voluntary helpers aged between 16 and 21 from various nations including Serbia, Korea, Armenia, Germany and the USA are working together to protect the natural landscape of Rangsdorf.

The educational environmental project is this year focussing on the Groß Machnow vineyard. From July 8 to 25, the team of helpers will manually clear the footpath to the hilltop 76.4 metres above sea level and so make it passable again. The vineyard features a conservation area that has existed since 1936, one of the oldest in the State of Brandenburg. The work camp will also take steps to maintain the red wood ant population as well as the dry grasslands and areas of open landscape thus preserving them for the long term.

The Landschaftspflegverein Mittelbrandenburg e.V. (Central Brandenburg Association of Rural Conservation) organises the International Work Camp in the Zülow lowlands in conjunction with the Internationale Jugendgemeinschaftsdienste (ijgd) e.V. (Association for International Youth Community Projects). The 2600 hectares of lowlands and cultivated landscape are situated between Mittenwalde, Dabendorf and Rangsdorf. The project receives the support of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH.
