Goodbye Tegel! Hello Schönefeld!

Berlin, 15.07.2013
Germania Airbus A 319
The airline Germania is moving from its current location at Tegel to Berlin Schönefeld Airport in the south-east of the capital. Germania Technik Brandenburg is already operating a maintenance hangar there together with airberlin. Concentrating its flight operations at a single site enables the Germania group to eliminate cost-intensive duplicate infrastructure for technical services and maintenance and obviates positioning flights between the two airports.

Germania is at the same time continuing to expand its network of destinations in the winter flight schedule. The successful scheduled connection to Beirut is thus being continued. Every Monday and Friday, Flight ST6002 takes off from Berlin Schönefeld at 14:00 and arrives at the Lebanese capital at 18:45. In the opposite direction, Flight ST6003 takes off at 19:35 and lands in Berlin at 22:45. From mid-December, Germania will furthermore be flying twice a week to Skopje. Likewise operating every Monday and Friday, Flight ST1992 will take off from Berlin Schönefeld at 15:25 and will arrive at the Macedonian capital at 17:45. The return flight leaves at 18:30 and lands in Berlin at 20:55.

With the new Berlin-Skopje connection, the airline’s route network now already comprises 50 international destinations. Germania’s business segments include flights to destinations in Europe and the Middle East, charter flights for tour operators to European and North African destinations, and wet leasing. The latter refers to the leasing of aircraft to other airlines. It includes the crew, maintenance and insurance, and the lessee bears the operational risk.
