Collaborative Decision Making initiated at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport

All local partners involved in the process have been working according to the so-called Airport CDM approach (Airport Collaborative Decision Making) at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport (SXF) since 4 a.m. local time on 27 March 2014. This approach promotes information sharing between the partners and facilitates collaboration, resulting in a much faster data exchange between airport operators, airlines, ground handlers and air traffic control. Airport CDM is an operational approach to facilitate the optimal handling of turnround processes at airports. It is designed to help cut costs, increase punctuality and reduce on-ground fuel consumption. This is made possible thanks to a continuous process. From flight planning through landing and handling procedures on the ground to the starting of aircraft – all process are coordinated and interlinked. The next step will be to approve the fully automated exchange of data with the NMOC (Network Manager Operations Centre / Eurocontrol). This will make Berlin-Schönefeld the fourth fully implemented German Airport CDM airport after Munich, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf.
