Winter flight plan 2016/2017


Out of the cold and into the sun or head straight for some winter fun: Berlin‘s winter flight plan offers excellent worldwide connections for beach and ski holidays, business trips and city breaks. This winter, a total of 65 airlines connect the capital with 152 destinations in 56 countries. In particular, travellers in Europe can choose from many new and exciting destinations. The new flight plan begins at the very start of winter, on 30th October 2016, at Schönefeld and Tegel airports.

Fly from Berlin-Tegel throughout the world

A total of 44 airlines fly from Tegel to some 93 destinations in 45 countries. With nine domestic connections, 68 European destinations, 16 intercontinental routes, of which ten are long haul, Tegel offers excellent connections to the world.

  • Die Fluggesellschaft TAP Portugal verlagert mit Beginn des Winterflugplans 2016/2017 ihre Flüge von Berlin-Schönefeld nach Berlin-Tegel.
  • Due to popular demand, British regional airline Flybe has brought forward the start date for flights between Berlin and Cardiff to 1st October 2016. Flights to the Welsh capital, in Great Britain, will depart from Tegel twice a week. 
  • With the start of the 2016/2017 winter flight plan, the airline TAP Portugal is relocating its flights from Berlin-Schönefeld to Berlin-Tegel. The Portuguese airline will start offering its Berlin to Lisbon route daily this winter. TAP Portugal also offers connections to Brazil (e.g. Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo) and USA (e.g. Miami and New York) via Lisbon Airport.
  • Starting in winter 2016/2017, airberlin will offer flights to the Dominican Republic from Berlin. From 1st November flights will depart three times a week for Punta Cana. At the start of the winter season, airberlin will increase the frequency of flights between Berlin and Innsbruck. From 12th December 2016, the airline will fly five times a week from Tegel to Tirol.
  • Azerbaijan Airlines will also be flying from Berlin to Baku this winter. Flights depart for the capital of Azerbaijan twice a week from Tegel. Baku Airport also offers connecting flights to Aktau in Kazakhstan, as well as Teheran and Peking, with Azerbaijan Airlines.

Diverse flight plan from Berlin-Schönefeld

Schönefeld Airport will start offering many new destinations in the 2016/2017 winter flight plan. A total of 23 airlines will fly to 97 destinations in 41 countries in Europe. This is on top of two domestic flights within Germany. The following new routes are available from Berlin-Schönefeld:

  • Mit Condor nach Agadir und Sotchi
  • Mit easyJet nach Zürich, La Palma, Newcastle, Marseille
  • Mit Germania nach Finnland
  • Mit jet2.com nach Nordengland
  • Ryanair startet 16 neuen Strecken ab SXF
  • Mit Wizz Air nach Tuszla in Bosnien-Herzegowina
  • Ahead of time, the Irish low cost airline Ryanair has added 16 new destinations from Berlin to its flight plan. Since September 2016, Ryanair is already flying to Belfast (Northern Ireland; three times a week), Bucharest (Romania; daily), Budapest (Hungary; daily), Catania (Italy; twice a week), Fuerteventura (Spain; twice a week), Lisbon (Portugal; daily), Manchester (Great Britain; daily), Nis (Serbia; twice a week), Podgorica (Montenegro; twice a week), Rzeszow (Poland; three times a week), Santander (Spain; three times a week), Sofia (Bulgaria; daily), Thessaloniki (Greece; daily), Timisoara (Romania; twice a week), Toulouse (France; four times a week) and Vilnius (Lithuania; three times a week). Three new routes will be added at the start of the 2016/2017 winter flight plan. The airline will start flying to Lanzarote (twice a week) and Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain; three times a week) and Seville (Spain; three times a week). 
  • easyJet expands its route network from Berlin-Schönefeld and starts flying to Zurich (Switzerland; six times a week), Marseille (France; three times a week), Newcastle (Great Britain; three times a week) and La Palma (Canary Islands, Spain; twice a week). 
  • From 1st November 2016, Condor starts flying to Agadir in Morocco. The route is flown once a week. During the period between 15th January and 26th February 2017, the airline will fly winter holidaymakers and ski fans once a week, full-charter and direct, to the resort Rosa Khutor in Sochi (Russia). 
  • In the Christmas period, the British low cost airline Jet2.com provides connections between Berlin and Leeds/Bradford Airport in North England between 25th November 2016 and 3rd January 2017. Flights will depart from the North English county of West Yorkshire for Schönefeld twice a week.
  • On 17th December 2016, the Hungarian low cost airline Wizz Air will begin flying from Berlin to Tuzla in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The new route is available twice a week from Schönefeld. From the end of September 2016, Kutaisi, the second largest city in Georgia, will be served twice a week by Wizz Air.
  • From 11th January 2017, the Berlin airline Germania is offering a new route between Berlin-Schönefeld and Finland. The flight plan will now include the destination of Rovaniemi, which will be available twice a week.

Start thinking about your summer this winter

For many residents of Berlin and Brandenburg, it’s already time to start planning their holidays. The 2017 summer flight plan will offer new long haul connections from Berlin. These include direct and indirect flights to USA and Canada. The route network in Eastern Europe will also be expanded with new connections away from popular, mass-tourism destinations. A quick glimpse:

  • airberlin will add Los Angeles and San Francisco to its flight plan in May 2017. In addition, the airline will increase the frequency of flights to New York, Chicago and Miami. 
  • The Canadian airline Air Canada Rouge will start flying to Berlin from Toronto from 1st June 2017. Direct flights from Tegel to Canada are available four times a week until 8th October.
  • From 1st June 2017, the Romanian airline Blue Air will begin flights between Berlin-Tegel and Iasi in Romania. The route will be served three times a week. 
  • From 26th March 2017, the Hungarian airline Wizz Air will fly twice a week from Berlin-Schönefeld to Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova.
