Kos – more than just a beach holiday

The third largest of the Dodecanese Islands is home to numerous historic structures and artefacts from Ancient Greece. Named after a Greek god and lying about four kilometres east of Kos Town, Asklepieion is a site dating from the 4th century before Christ. Those wanting to experience the culinary side of the island should visit one of the many tavernas. They serve a mixture of Greek cuisine such as moussaka and souvlaki as well as local specialities. At the end of the day, take a trip to the hilltop village of Zia, from where you can see the whole island and enjoy a magnificent sunset.
