Fly to the green paradise with Ryanair

Ireland’s mystical atmosphere is even stronger on the island of Skellig Michael. One of the most famous monasteries in Ireland can be found here, which is thought to have been founded in the 7th century. Old stone slabs lead to the top of the mountain, where the old monastic settlement was located. Parts of the early Christian installation are still preserved, such as the thousand year old beehive huts. The rocky landscape in the middle of the sea appears mysterious and inapproachable. Presumably, this is why it is often the subject of literature and music. The island found its fame through the film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", as its final scene was filmed here. However, a trip here must be planned in advance. Only around 180 people per day are permitted to cross over to the hard to reach island. Last but not least: One thing can’t be forgotten on a trip to Kerry – a visit to an Irish pub.

County Kerry is located in the southwest of Ireland in the province of Munster, directly on the Atlantic coast. The "Ring of Kerry", a nearly 200 metre long coastal road, is probably considered to be the most panoramic route in Ireland. The county invites you to stay, discover and be amazed. Some of the most beautiful parts of the island that are a must for visitors include the town of Killarney, Lough Leane and Killarney National Park, as well as Muckross Abbey. Especially hikers will get their money’s worth in the National Park and are rewarded with spectacular scenes of nature. The well-preserved, but moss and ivy covered, ruins of Muckruss Abbey give the place a mystical atmosphere. The abbey was founded in 1448 by Franciscans and existed until the dissolution of the monasteries under Cromwell in the 16th Century.
