Egyptair will fly more regularly to Cairo

This summer, Egyptair has updated its flight schedule from Berlin Schönefeld and now also flies to Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on Thursdays. The airline will now take off to the land of pharaohs five times a week; Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Departure time from Schönefeld is 15:30, arriving at Cairo International Airport at 19:30. Going the other way, the flights leave Cairo at 10:20, arriving in Berlin at 14:30. Flights will be in a Boeing 737-800, with 144 passenger seats.

Cairo – City on the Nile

The Egyptian capital is a multi-layered metropolis. Here you will find modern city life meeting a thousand-year-old history, historical buildings and antique treasures. If you’re interested in learning about traces of the past, then visiting old Cairo and the Islamic old city is a must. There are countless significant buildings in the colonial areas of present-day Cairo to discover. And among the most spectacular of these are the Coptic Hanging Church, the Babylonian Fortress – a former Roman military site – and the Saladin Citadel.
The Egyptian Museum is also a must-see. Admire the golden artefacts of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun - all the while walking past royal mummies - in the largest museum in the world for ancient Egyptian art. More authentic still would be to visit the pyramids themselves, with a trip to Giza or Saqqara (especially beautiful at sunrise).
To bring yourself back into the present, a trip to Gezira Island is ideal. The largest Nile island in Cairo entices with its beautiful parks, a stage for open-air concerts, and a TV tower, from which you can get a unique panorama view over Cairo.
