Birthplace of the USA

Philadelphia, with its 1.6 million inhabitants, is among the oldest and most significant cities in the USA. The city, which bears the name ‘City of Brotherly Love’ and is lovingly referred to as Philly, is the birthplace of the USA. The Declaration of Independence was proclaimed in Philadelphia in 1776 and in 1787 the Constitution of the United States of America was adopted there. In 2015, the city was declared a world heritage site.

But Philadelphia offers even more: the metropolis on the Delaware River is full of diversity, creativity and energy. Visitors should take time to explore the ‘Streets of Philadelphia’ through the Old City on foot, along the historic walls of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, on the trail of the fascinating Mural Arts programme, through some of the many museums, galleries or parks, as well as taking a culinary voyage of discovery through the Reading Terminal Market.

The city is also economically interesting; Philadelphia is one of the strongest economic areas in the USA.

American Airlines

In 2013, American Airlines merged with US Airways to become the largest airline in the world. As a partner of the oneworld aviation alliance, they offer many other connections in North and Central America from their hub in Philadelphia.
