Winter Magic in Gothenburg

Even before the winter flight schedule for 2018/2019 officially becomes effective, SAS will take passengers non-stop from Berlin Tegel to Sweden’s second-largest city: Gothenburg! From now on, the Scandinavian airline will fly between the two cities up to four times a week. Boeing 737 aircraft will operate on this route. The flight lasts less than one and a half hours and the metropolis on the Swedish west coast is therefore perfect for a winter weekend trip.

When it’s cold and dark outside, a visit to a rustic coffee house or a sauna with a view out over the harbour district in Frihamnen is really worthwhile. But the winter in Gothenburg has even more to offer. From the first Friday in December until the second week in January, the Swedish metropolis is a sea of twinkling lights. The Ljusstråket is a three kilometre-long lane of lights, leading from the Gothenburg Opera to the Liseberg amusement park. The amusement park, which turns into a glittering winter landscape in mid-November, can also be reached by water. Warm blankets, hot Glögg (Swedish mulled wine) and Christmas music create a cosy atmosphere on board during the 40-minute trip in a so-called Paddan (toad), a boat that is so flat, it can pass under any bridge.
