Adventure Holiday in the “White City by the Sea”

13.11.2018

Originally a Berber fishing village, today Agadir is known first and foremost for its fine sandy beaches. Its mild climate and over 300 sunny days a year make the Moroccan port an ideal holiday destination – even in winter. But Agadir and its surroundings have so much more to offer.

So if you want to get to know the country and its people, you could for example visit Souk El Had, Agadir’s largest market, where over 2,000 merchants sell their goods (spices, jewellery, scarves etc.) every weekend. The New Medina is another destination for day trips. After the historic old town was completely destroyed by an earthquake in February 1960, Coco Polizzi, a Sicilian, set himself the task of building a New Medina which was as true to the original and as authentic as possible. It is situated in the Ben Sergao district, only six kilometres away.
Marrakech, which is located 220 kilometres away, is also a top destination if you are looking to explore the country. It takes about three hours to reach the “red city” in the west of Morocco. Read more about Marrakech here:

Pure Nature – Take time out in the Sahara

Far away from any civilisation, in the middle of the largest arid desert on earth, the Sahara probably offers the greatest contrast to the city you are used to at home – an unforgettable experience! From Agadir, you can travel by jeep to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, for example. And then it’s time to saddle up! Sitting on the backs of the camels as they rock back and forth, you can calmly admire the impressive surroundings. A sunset, which is second to none, also bathes the desert sand in a bright orange-red. The starry night sky is even more impressive and you have probably never seen anything like it before.

Fly with Germania and easyJet

With the launch of the winter flight schedule, both Germania and easyJet will operate between Berlin Tegel and the southern Moroccan port of Agadir. Every Wednesday – and easyJet also flies on Saturdays – both airlines will now fly to Morocco’s most modern city in four and a half hours. Germania will use an Airbus A319 for these flights and easyJet will use an Airbus A320.
