Airport Night Run 2019: Run across BER

Let the countdown commence: On Saturday the 13th of April 2019, the future Berlin Brandenburg airport will once again transform into a large running track for an evening. For the thirteenth time now, thousands of runners from all over Europe will have the chance to experience BER in a rather special light. As of today, around 5,500 runners have registered.

The 13th Airport Night Run will lead runners across the terminal and piers, under jet bridges, and across the lit-up southern runway and apron all the way into the early hours of the evening. The start/finish area is found directly under the terminal roof. Participants can choose from a total of four disciplines: the half marathon, 10 kilometre run, 10 kilometre power-walking, and the 4x4-kilometre team relay.

Starting Shot

Airport Manager Prof. Dr.-Ing Engelbert Lütke Daldrup will be firing the starting pistol for the half marathon at 7:05 pm. Runners and walkers taking part in the 10-kilometre distance as well in the 4x4-kilometre team relay will start at 7:30 pm. Participants can prepare themselves around 25 minutes before each starting shot as part of the official warmup. In addition to best female and male runners for each discipline, the company with the best time, most participants, and quickest relay team will be awarded a prize.

Arrival and On-Site Services

The event grounds are found at the Berlin Brandenburg airport at Airport City’s Willy-Brandt-Platz. Free parking spaces are limited on site. It’s recommended that you set off early, share a car, or use public transport. Free shuttle buses will be travelling between the Berlin-Schönefeld airport S-Bahn station and the event grounds between 3:00 pm and midnight.

In the starting area, runners have the opportunity to use toilets, changing rooms, and showers, as well as clothes storage. Those visiting and accompanying can cheer for the participants at the start and finish area. Accompaniment onto the track is not possible.
