Non-stop to the Big Apple

02.05.2019

Summer in the city: This summer, Delta Air Lines once again connects Berlin with New York. Starting now, you can fly daily from Tegel to the American metropolis – the route will operate until the end of October. New York-JFK (a Delta Air Lines hub) allows passengers to easily connect to more than 60 destinations throughout North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, including popular destinations such as Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco or Vancouver, Canada.

Delta Air Lines will be operating this route with a Boeing 767-400 this summer. Compared to the previous year, this offers significantly more seating capacity - specifically 40 seats in Business Class, 28 seats in Economy Plus and 178 seats in Eco Class.

Is there anything about New York that hasn't already been shown or written about? Even those who have never been usually feel that they already know the city. And yet, anyone who catches a glimpse of the famous skyline for the first time as they approach JFK will instantly fall for NYC. The most famous sights such as Times Square, the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building are compulsory on a trip to New York so they don't need to be mentioned further here – New York offers so much more! The best way to explore the different neighbourhoods is on foot or by bike (CitiBikes are available to rent at many locations in the city). These include the charming Chelsea, the vibrant East Village, the fashionable Meatpacking District with its High Line Park or the lively Chinatown. A tip for the summer months: during the theatre break at the famous Broadway venues, New York offers a variety of outdoor cultural highlights, many of which are free. From open-air cinemas in the numerous parks, to rock concerts, to theatrical and musical performances ("Broadway in the Park"), there's something for every taste here.

Apart from Manhattan, Brooklyn, on the other side of the East River, is absolutely worth visiting. The journey should be taken at least once by crossing the much-adored Brooklyn Bridge (preferably by foot or bike) which offers beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline. The Williamsburg Bridge slightly further north leads from Manhattan to the hip Brooklyn neighbourhood of Williamsburg, which the creative crowd have called home in recent years. In addition to the trendy galleries, bars and nightclubs that can now be found here, there's also lively restaurants and lots of shopping opportunities. Also worth a visit is Coney Island, with its somewhat dated but very charming beachfront amusement park in south Brooklyn. An adventurous ride on the historical wooden rollercoaster or a stroll along the beach promenade is highly recommended. Tip: On the Ferris wheel, you can see the Manhattan skyline, which is more than 12 miles away.
