Skiing in Sweden with easyJet

Winter tourists take note: Sweden’s popular winter sports region Åre Östersund is now just one flight away. Once a week, on Sundays, easyJet leaves Berlin-Tegel for Åre Östersund Airport. Flight EJU5723 takes off from Berlin at 7:20 am and reaches the Nordic winter paradise at 9:20 am after a two-hour flight so that snow fun can start as soon as you arrive. Flights in Östersund depart every Sunday at 10:00 am, landing at Berlin-Tegel at 12.05 pm.

The new winter connection will be particularly popular with winter sports enthusiasts in Berlin and Brandenburg. With snow guaranteed from December to May, the region is ideal for various winter sports. It’s particularly popular with cross-country skiers thanks to the 100-kilometre cross-country ski trail network with ideal conditions. Östersund is also an excellent destination for alpine and off-piste skiing. Those who prefer to spend their holidays without skis strapped to their feet can choose between ice skating, snowmobile safaris, dog and reindeer sledding as well as ice fishing and ice climbing. Whichever winter activity you choose, make sure you pack your warm clothes! The coldest month is January with temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius. The air is, however, incredibly clean and clear.

See Storsjön

Östersund itself, with a population of almost 50,000, is the only city in the region. It lies around 500 kilometres north of Stockholm, directly on Lake Storsjön. The monster Storsjöodjuret allegedly lives in its depths. You can take a closer look at whether there is really a Nessie-like lake monster at the municipal Jamtli Museum. The Jamtli also offers an interesting insight into the history and ethnology of the Jämtland province.
