We’re ringing in late-summer. The evenings get shorter, autumn is just around the corner. Time for a couple of sunny ideas for the coming weeks: the new holiday charter Azur Air is offering destinations in southern Europe from Berlin-Schönefeld, including Mallorca and Canary Islands; mountain climber or beach bum, there’s something for everyone here. And high temperatures are practically guaranteed. This autumn, Condor starts its brand new route from Berlin-Schönefeld to Dubai. But Berlin and the surrounding area are also perfect for a final jump in the water - especially when the sun shines. You’ll find beach pools and clear blue waters at the most beautiful bathing lakes in Brandenburg.

New airline, new destination: Icelandair to link Berlin-Tegel with the Icelandic capital, Reykjavik. From 3 November 2017, flights will depart three times a week, every Monday, Friday and Sunday, to the coastal town in the south-west of the country. Reykjavik attracts visitors, particularly in the cold months, thanks to its many museums and will enchant you with its winter flair. If you are lucky, you’ll be able to witness the Northern Lights in the clear winter nights, which bathe the landscape in a magical light. In any case, Iceland is one of the absolute top destinations for nature fans. Whether volcanoes, mountains, glaciers or its famous geysers - the natural landscape of the island leaves nothing to be desired. Impressive sunsets make the ice red in the winter months, providing unforgettable moments. The gateway to the world also opens in Reykjavik; from here, Icelandair flies to 18 destinations in North America. The Icelandic capital is the perfect stopover for a trip to the "New World".

Who said holidays and Brandenburg don’t go together? We’ll prove them wrong! Brandenburg really has a lot to offer water lovers and bathing enthusiasts. With 3,087 lakes covering 100,000 hectares, 13 % of Brandenburg is water. Lake Stechlin, in particular, is known for its water quality. The water is so clear, you can see down to 11 metres below the surface. The Lake Straus, north-east of Berlin, is also popular thanks to its many small bays, which are perfect for cooling off on hot days. Lake Helena, near Frankfurt, is also known as "The Little Baltic Sea". Take a break from diving, surfing, sailing or beach volleyball and relax on the 3.5 km sandy beach. The ancient glacial lake of Schwielow, which formed about 19,000 years ago, is one of the most famous bathing spots in Brandenburg. The lake resort of Caputh, with its beach of fine sand, is especially beautiful.
