November 2020
Terminal 1 of Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt (BER) was commissioned on 31 October 2020 with the arrival of the first two aircrafts operated by easyJet and Lufthansa. Regular operations commenced a day later with the first departure of a commercial flights. Since 4 November 2020 BER is in full operation with the opening of the southern runway. With the closing of Tegel Airport on 8 November 2020, all air traffic of the capital region has been consolidated in one location.

Last weekend the last airlines have relocated to Berlin Brandenburg Airport, including the Lufthansa Group with Austrian, Swiss and Brussels Airlines. Lufthansa was one of the first airlines to land at BER. #helloBER
The four kilometre long southern runway came into operation on 4th November with a landing of Qatar Airways’ flight QR81 from Doha. #BER is now fully operational.
The observation deck is open daily from 06:00 to 22:00. Due to the current safety measures, longer waiting times are possible. Please observe the current entry regulations.
Current information on flying under corona conditions
Numerous measures in the terminals as well as at the security control and boarding ensure that passengers can fly safely, even under corona conditions. Passengers and visitors can have a test for the Covid-19 virus carried out in Terminal 1 of Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
On 2 January 1960, Air France completed the first scheduled flight to Tegel with a Lockheed Super Constellation. Sixty years later, the circle was completed when, on 8 November 2020 at 3:00 pm, a plane from the french airline took off from TXL for Paris for the very last time.
