Tegel airport

Tegel "Otto Lilienthal" Airport is today regarded as a symbol of the economic miracle in a developing West Berlin. The airport opened in 1948 and with more than 16 million passengers in 2011, is Berlin's busiest airport and the economic backbone of the two Berlin airports.

Air France in Tegel

During the Berlin blockade, the French administration ordered an airport to be built here. In 1960, the first Air France plane started a regular scheduled service from the new airport in Tegel.
