Schönefeld airport

Schönefeld Airport served as the central airport of the German Democratic Republic from 1945 until the fall of the Berlin Wall, with connections to the Eastern Bloc. In the twenty years following the fall of the Wall, it rapidly developed into an up-and-coming airport for low-cost airlines. The infrastructure of the former Schönefeld Airport has also continued to be used since BER went into operation, as BER Terminal 5.

The first easyJet plane landed at Schönefeld Airport on 28 April 2004. The airline has since become Schönefeld's biggest customer. When BER opens, easyJet's Berlin flight schedule will include a total of 37 connections.
