On 12 May 2007, Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport is holding an activity day at the airport between 10am and 6pm. The programme, a mix of information and entertainment, particularly targets families and travel fans.

Along with some 300 Brandenburg-based companies, Berlin Airports is taking part in the province-wide "Tag des offenen Unternehmens" open day being held this year for the first time. The event aims to introduce regional companies to a broad public. The organisers are the Brandenburg Government under the patronage of Brandenburg’s premier, Matthias Platzeck, the regional Chambers of Industry and Commerce and Chambers of Commerce.

The visitors’ terrace at Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport will be open admission-free between 10am and 6pm. Also opening especially on this particular Saturday is airportworld bbi, where visitors can gain a clear impression of how the future BBI Airport will look from the films and large-scale model on show there.

From 12 noon onwards, coaches will be on hand to run hourly bus tours to the airport fire station and to the Lufthansa assembly hangar. The round-trip fare is €4 and reservation lists will be available at airportworld bbi on the day.

The travel agencies in the airport terminals will be putting up some special offers for visitors to browse through in a relaxed atmosphere on the open day.

In addition to all of this, various airlines are organising events at their check-in desks. For example, Air Berlin will be laying on face painting for children at its counter.

In Terminal D, Germanwings will be presenting a very special programme. Along with the Hungarian National Tourist Office and Hungarian tour operators, the airline will be staging a Balaton travel show. With a prize competition, culinary delights and an entertainment programme, it will be a very pleasant way of getting to know Hungary.

A stage with live music will be erected in front of the terminal buildings. The stage programme and a number of children’s activities all guarantee visitors an entertaining time. There will also be a barbecue stand where people can keep hunger at bay, perhaps with a delicious grilled sausage.

Visitors are recommended to use public transport. Those who choose to come by car are advised to park in the parking areas P6 and P11.
