High traffic volume in August / Tegel reports two-figure growth rates / Stable passenger volume at Schoenefeld | Hefty losses continue at Tempelhof
Altogether 1,861,660 passengers took off and landed at the Berlin airports in August. This represents a year-on-year increase of 10.5 per cent for the month.

Schoenefeld Airport handled 635,600 passengers in August. This result corresponds to a 5.2 per cent rise in the number of passengers compared with the same month in 2006.

In Tegel, the number of passengers showed an above-average increase of 16.7 per cent to 1,203,119.

The volume of traffic at Tempelhof again fell sharply in August. The number of passengers was down 53.3 per cent to 22,941 passengers on the corresponding period last year.

The total number of aircraft movements at the three Berlin airports totalled 21,912 take-offs and landings. This corresponds to year-on-year growth of 6.4 per cent.

The volume of air freight was up by 17.7 per cent to 1,698 tons.
