Documents on the supplementary planning permission procedure are open to inspection at airportworld bbi
Between 29 October 2007 and 28 November 2007, visitors to airportworld bbi will have the opportunity to inspect the documents on the supplementary planning permission procedure relating to the BBI noise control concept. Neighbours of the airport will thus have the added opportunity to study the documents at their leisure in addition to being able to view them at official locations in their municipalities. The documents will be on display simultaneously in the district of Treptow-Köpenick in Berlin and in the municipalities of Gosen-Neu Zittau, Amt Spreenhagen, Eichwalde, Schulzendorf, Schoenefeld, Blankenfelde-Mahlow, Großbeeren und Ludwigsfelde in Brandenburg.

In March 2006, the Federal Administrative Court had approved the expansion of Schoenefeld Airport into the Capital Airport BBI in the last instance, stipulating subsequent improvements to control noise. Detailed records had to be kept regarding the necessity for flights, especially between 10 and 12 p.m. and 5 and 6 a.m. As stipulated by the Federal Administrative Court, Berlin Airports has looked into the necessity for such flights, the economic effects expected and the noise impact.

Dr. Rainer Schwarz: "The documents we have submitted clearly show that the airlines landing in Berlin believe it is imperative that air traffic is as extensive as possible in off-peak times from 10 to 12 p.m. and 5 to 6 a.m., in order to be able to operate air traffic at BBI cost-effectively. Extensive air traffic in off-peak times has meanwhile become standard practice at international airports."

NB: airportworld bbi is open daily, except Saturdays, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. airportworld bbi is situated opposite Berlin-Schoenefeld railway station. Free parking is available to visitors behind airportworld.
