Why not simply turn your back on winter in Germany and soak up some sun, rollick around in the snow or buy your Christmas presents in New York? Berlin Airports has the perfect destination for everyone this winter, and a competition Advent calendar at www.berlin-airport.de for all those left behind.

"Berlin Airports is offering all winter holidaymakers a range of attractive destinations this year", says Dr. Rainer Schwarz, CEO of Berlin Airports. "Including sunny destinations such as Bangkok, the Caribbean and Antalya or Izmir in Turkey, and new and interesting winter sports destinations such as Innsbruck and Lyon."

Off to the snow

For all those looking for a whiter winter than in Germany, this year sees a list of destinations with snow guaranteed. As of December, TUIfly is operating two flights a week from Berlin-Tegel directly to Innsbruck in the Austrian Alps. A total of nine skiing regions can easily be reached from here – the connection is also ideal for a short break in the snow. And for all those who don't want to miss out on city life while on their skiing holiday, Lyon is the perfect destination. For the World Heritage City close to the Alps is not only known for its gastronomy, it's also just a short distance away from numerous skiing regions. Easyjet has been operating daily flights from Berlin-Schoenefeld to Lyon since late October.

Sun guaranteed

Those yearning for some sun and ready to escape winter in Germany are in for a treat: with Bangkok, the Caribbean or Antalya, this season's flight schedule has a range of destinations with sun guaranteed. The Turkish Riviera in Antalya, noted for its "eternal spring", invites holidaymakers to enjoy the city away from the hustle and bustle of mass tourism. Izmir also offers visitors springlike sunny days in winter. For all those long-haul fans out there, LTU has been offering a new non-stop connection from Berlin-Tegel to Bangkok since November. The Thai metropolis is not only well worth a visit, it's also the starting point for tours on the island of Phuket or Ko Samui. TUI now also operates weekly flights to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and to Varadero on Cuba.

Winter city breaks

Cities such as New York or Doha invite visitors to indulge in some Christmas shopping. Delta Air Lines and Continental Airlines offer daily flights from Berlin-Tegel to the American cities. Qatar Airways flies four times a week from Berlin-Tegel to Doha. And in Europe Lisbon is the perfect city break alternative. The Portuguese capital entices visitors with its mild winters and cultural diversity. Why not have a few days' break, take a ride through the old district on the Eléctrica 28, the traditional tram, or discover Lisbon's nightlife in the entertainment district Bairro Alto. Easyjet offers daily flights from Berlin-Schoenefeld.

The Berlin Airports Advent calendar

Moreover this year sees the introduction of "Berlin Airports big Advent calendar" at www.berlin-airport.de, to shorten the run-up to Christmas for all those staying at home. Every day from 1 to 24 December a question will be asked on Berlin Airports with the chance to win a small surprise for the right answers. All participants are then entered into the main prize draw: two tickets for a round trip over Berlin with the historic raisin bomber.

All flights can also be booked via www.viaberlin.com, the portal of Berlin Airports for modern travelling from, via and to Berlin. Just a few clicks is all it takes to put together and book flights. Additional offers such as flight connection insurance, transfer services and cultural and event tips on Berlin round off the offer.
