Dr. Rainer Schwarz, CEO of Berlin Airports and Prof. Dr. Ludger Wilken of LogistikNetz Berlin-Brandenburg today signed a cooperation agreement on developing the logistics capabilities of the Berlin-Brandenburg region. The agreement provides for the exchange of information, collaboration with LogistikNetz teams, the fostering of business contacts, cooperation on projects and joint appearances at national and international trade fairs and events. The signing of the agreement took place at the ILA in front of around 100 experts taking part in Berlin Airports' air cargo meeting.

Schwarz informed those taking part in the meeting of plans to build the first module of a new midfield cargo facility at BBI with a capacity of 60,000 tonnes. "BBI offers the industry perfect opportunities for future growth. With an approved capacity of up to 600,000 tonnes of cargo, BBI is well equipped for the future. Berlin already has a global network thanks to flights operated by express carriers TNT Express, UPS and FedEX. With the increasing number of long-haul flights for passengers from Berlin to New York, Doha, Bangkok and soon to Peking, air cargo volume is continuing to rise", said Schwarz at the air cargo meeting.
