Slight decline in passenger figures for March

A total of 1,668,872 passengers were handled at the Berlin airports Tegel and Schoenefeld in March.
This represents a year-on-year decrease of 1.6 per cent. Regarding the trend in the first quarter, passenger figures have dropped by five per cent from 4,626,116 to 4,392,941. Berlin is performing two per cent better than the national average of seven per cent in Germany. This confirms that Berlin tends not to follow the general market trend.

Schoenefeld Airport recorded 511,428 passengers in March, which represents a 1.5 per cent increase.

Tegel Airport handled 1,157,444 passengers in the reporting month, representing a year-on-year decrease of 0.8 per cent.

The total number of aircraft movements in March amounted to 19,456 take-offs and landings, representing a year-on-year decrease of 3.1 per cent.

The amount of air freight flown declined by 6.1 per cent to 1,644 tonnes.
