Passenger figures down slightly in May

In May a total of 1,830,371 passengers used the Berlin airports Tegel and Schoenefeld. This is a year-on-year drop of 5.2 per cent, and it consolidates the trend displayed in the past few months.
While the average decrease in Germany was around 8 per cent, Berlin Airports reported a decrease in passengers numbers of only 4.8 per cent. This shows clearly that Berlin Airports has succeeded in bucking the general market trend.

Schoenefeld Airport registered 573,560 passengers in May. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 4.2 per cent.

Tegel Airport handled 1,256,811 passengers in the month under review, which is a year-on-year decrease of 3.3 per cent.

In May, Berlin Airports reported 20,765 arrivals and departures, a year-on-year decrease of 21 per cent.

A total of 1,701 tons of air cargo were flown, which is a decrease of 14.7 per cent.

All values for this month are based on preliminary figures.
