The third round of BBI Campus is starting / University project for students from the capital region / Practical insight into the aviation industry
Following a brief summer break, the third semester of BBI Campus, the university project of Berlin Airports, is starting. In cooperation with the employment office in Potsdam, this year’s lectures once again cover a range of interesting topics. Besides giving students the chance to consult with and profit directly from the know-how and experience of acknowledged airport and aviation experts, the series of lectures also enable students to gain an insight into the varied world of work in an airport environment.

The response to the first two years of BBI Campus was impressive. Around 750 students from all universities in the Berlin-Brandenburg region found their way into the BBI auditorium.

Prof. Dr. Rainer Schwarz, CEO of Berlin Airports: “The positive figures from the first two semesters have impelled us to start a third semester with a new series of lectures, which will hopefully arouse great interest amongst all attendees. Being able to gain a practical insight into a project such as the construction of BBI and consult with experts from the aviation industry is a great opportunity, particularly for students. We hope to be able to welcome a large number of students to airportworld bbi this semester, too.”

The aim of the BBI Campus is to use an interesting combination of science and practical training to show the development of the new Capital Airport BBI and raise airport-related issues for discussion throughout the curriculum.

Patrons of the project are Prof. Johanna Wanka, Brandenburg’s Minister of Science, Research and Culture and Prof. E. Jürgen Zöllner, Berlin’s Senator for Education, Science and Research.

As in the 2009 summer semester, the University of Potsdam is counting student participation as a course achievement within the scope of the multidisciplinary “Studiumplus” programme.

In the 2009/2010 winter semester, BBI Campus will consist of a series of four lectures.
